Of course I noticed my new 1950s maxi green gingham dress looks like a classic picnic table-cloth…. that instead of red is in a pretty shade of mint. But isn’t it unexpected and different in a long dress? We all need a change from time to time… and one of 2015’s best trends is check!

So after flooding you in skinny jeans, fitted dresses and mini skirts, I was ready to experiment with styling a maxi day dress in a check fabric.
When Shabby Apple.com contacted me for a collaboration, this was the one item I truly loved, even though, this online a shop sells many 1950s retro inspired cute dresses and tulle skirts.
Styling my new full length vintage inspired wrap dress for summer with Adidas Stan Smith was a no-brainer because I needed a fun, sporty garden party outfit for an upcoming invitation.
However, I could wear this statement dress with wedges to a summer wedding in a Greek Island. I love that this original gingham print fabric has no right or wrong side with respect to color, so you can move and sit freely.
Did you know that when Brigitte Bardot wore a pink gingham dress for her wedding she started a fashion trend which caused a shortage of the check fabric in France?
