The run up to the holidays means desperately trying to remember everything your nearest and dearest have mentioned they might desire before buying, wrapping and labeling presents for everyone else. Then, usually, the attention turns back to your own wardrobe as the post Christmas sales offer a chance to pick up some key pieces at bargain prices. But, with most stores having already marked down some of autumn and winter’s most beautiful items, there’s no reason why you can’t treat yourself to a little early Christmas gift.
Katie from the delightsome blog shares a few of the beautiful bargains she’s got her eye on:
Shiny skirt
While some designer ranges are way out of my price point at any time of year, there are some bargains to be found at sales time. And, the beauty of snapping them up now means you’re not vying with everyone else for discount pieces. This skirt from Temperley London is perfect for the party season now. But, it’s also bang-on-trend for next season as some of the world’s best-loved designers, including Lanvin and Stella McCartney have been sending their models down the spring/summer 2014 catwalks in shiny, iridescent shades of bronze, silver and gold. This piece is marked down from $770 to £385 at Net a Porter. I’ll be wearing it with a cami top for nights’ out but it could also be dressed down with a roll-neck sweater.
New boots
In seasons past, it used to be that boots weren’t marked down until the winter season had passed. So, you had to pick up boots in the sale for the following autumn and winter, not really knowing if they would still be on trend. But now, even this season’s pieces are discounted. These gorgeous pull-on knee-high boots will never be out of style with their equestrian styling. And, they have been reduced by £19 at Viva La Diva.
Animal print jumper
Sweaters with animal faces on them have been an under the trend radar this winter. But celebrities like Jessica Alba, who recently donned a cosy knit with a husky on it, have been styling them to perfection with ankle boots and crossbody bags for an off-duty look. The tiger print top from La Redoute’s Prix Mini range ties into the trend perfectly and it has 50% off at the moment – down to £9.50 from £19.
The vintage find
Even though vintage stores, by their very nature don’t stick to seasonal trends when it comes to what they stock, that doesn’t mean they don’t have great sales just like any regular store or online boutique. This poncho from Rokit is reduced from £65 to £48.75. And, it’s bang on trend for this season, incorporating the sort of plaid look seen on the catwalks of Phillip Lim, Karen Walker and Marc Jacobs. I’ll be customising mine though, to make it into a cape rather than a poncho, and wearing a roll neck underneath for extra winter warmth.
The investment piece
A winter coat is something that you won’t just wear for one season – providing you find a piece that you fall in love with. And, the pre-holiday sales are the ideal time to pick up a new cover-up which will last you for seasons because they can be so heavily discounted. While this Theory Coat in brown leather with shearling is undeniable expensive at £1,456, it has been reduced by more than £500 from Bloomingdales and I know I’d wear it for years to come.
Have a lovely Day!!!
