Last weekend I was invited to a friend’s picturesque summer house in a wonderful city in northern Greece, Kavala, the principal seaport of eastern Macedonia. I had never visited before and besides the warm hospitality the natural beauty of the area was a pleasant surprise.
The old city of Kavala, the Holy Baptistery of Agia Lydia, the archaeological site of Philippi, the Krinides mud baths and Imaret hotel are definitely worth visiting.
Plus, the sandy beaches are amazing. Think sand and turquoise water…

We went to the Holy Baptistery is located in Lydia, near the archaeological site of Philippi were Lydia was the first woman in Europe to be baptized.
There in the vivid river with a long history that symbolizes the consolidation of Christianity. I saw the most beautiful butterfly I have ever seen.
