The leather biker jacket, symbolic of rebellious youth, updated my mother’s vintage Leonard dress creating a Rock Chic outfit, actualy more chic than rock, perfect for a special occasion. A few weeks ago, I was invited to an important award ceremony.
Professor Vassilios Skouris, President of the European Court of Justice, was honored with the “Dimitris Tsatsos” Prize, awarded to distinguished personalities who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of European Constitutional Sciences, during a special ceremony held at the “Megaron” Athens Concert Hall. In his acceptance speech with the subject «The democratic legitimacy of the European Union: myth or reality?», stressed among other things that “given the particular intrinsic characteristics of the Union, the assessment of its democratic legitimacy on the basis of traditional criteria presents serious difficulties. This however does not equate to a lack of sufficient democratic foundations, given that the supranational Union edifice continuously seeks and eventually finds additional sources of institutional support”.
An amazing event with interesting speeches about the future of the European Union.
I love the Leonard 1980’s floral prints. Leonard Paris famous for printed silk dresses that reinvent romance with a modern edge. For over half a century, the house has perfected its treatments of silks, mastering everything from traditional Japanese techniques to state of the art prints for dazzling effects. After 30 years this dress remains a standout with sophisticated and bold patters that sure make an impact. For a different occasion, I would wear the dress with high heel booties to make it even more relevant today. I have a passion for vintage clothing hidden in my own closet and I find updating them exciting. Do you ever reinterpreting your mother’s vintage clothes?
