PS ( Personal Style)- Alaia’s Discreet Luxury Forever

Trendsurvivor- Alaia body and skirt-0001

Azzedine Alaïa, my favorite Tunisian-born couturier and shoe designer, produced his first ready-to-wear collection in 1980. Alaïa was instantly recognized, he was voted Best Designer of the Year and Best collection of the Year at the Oscars de la Mode by the French Ministry of Culture in 1984. I fell in love with the discreet luxury of his designs and the body flattering shapes. When I was studying, I was saving money to buy a piece every season from Browns at South Molton Street or Joseph on top of Joe’s Cafe on Sloane Street in Chelsea London. I don’t remember exactly when I bought this salmon color Alaia body and skirt but my guess it is 20 years old. I am loving my Roberto Cavalli seashell metallic heel sandals, a relatively recent find on sale at Kalogirou Bazaar. Don’t you love when you buy something that you know you will wear forever?!
