Enriching my experiences by quitting home for some time to do something new is my idea of fun. I love walking off a plane into a different climate and time zone and being surrounded by different languages and people.

This year I traveled as far as India and enjoyed winter escapes in Greek Islands like Aigina. Paros is always one of my favorite destinations any time of the year.
I am currently in California packing for a trip to Vancouver to visit my friend Lara. (You might have seen her on Trend Survivor in her beautiful island home in Tzia)
However, the most difficult question of traveling at least for me is how not to end up with a suitcase that is too full with things I don’t really need.
Plus, I hate paying for excess luggage…
Here are the pro tips on how to travel lighter and how to choose wisely only the essentials.

I wish I could take everything I want with me but to be honest, I would probably not even wear most of it.
Before you start packing make sure you make some strategic packing decisions that will ensure you will travel lighter this time!
1… Remember when choosing your pieces they should mix and match. Make sure that almost each item can be worn more than once without it seeming like you have the same outfit on.
2… Create a color and pattern story. The easiest trick is to stick with one color story, and throw in one or two complimentary hues to break things up.
3… Create your plane outfit from the items you have chosen to pack.
4… If you are traveling with friends make sure you’re not bringing multiples of items that can be communal.

So here’s a list of basics that you should bring to your next trip:
1… Shoes: Under normal circumstances, one pair of comfortable stylish sneakers, one pair of ballerinas or moccasin flats and one pair of mid-high heels will go a long way.
2… Pants: three basic pairs of pants. Your favorite black trousers, one pair of skinny black denim and one light blue jeans should be enough.
3….Tops: Cardigans or jumpers in black, gray or nude are all-rounders, as well as two three patterned shirts and blouses.
4… Bags: One big bag is usually enough and you can use it as your carry on luggage plus a small cross-body bag that can go day to night.
5… little black dress: Essential
6… Reduce gadgets: Take your camera with one lens, use your tablet instead of taking your laptop with you.

7…. Plan your outfits: I found this very useful. Plan your outfits for each day of your trip. It will save space in your suitcase and minimize the time you need to get dressed.
8…. Limit Accessories: 1 pair of sunglasses, umbrella
9… Less Makeup: Think less Is more. Go for the basics or an all in one travel makeup palette.
Being able to mix and match pieces is a great tip for travel!
