I met Nat from my sister on our trip to Australia. I love her personality, effortless style and her long red hair. So glad she agreed to do an outfit post plus write a piece about her look and Melbourne’s cool shopping spots. Enjoy!
“Being relatively new to the Melbourne fashion scene I’ve taken to finding the little eclectic shops that sell one offs and vintage pieces. I love that Melbourne has room for small boutique shops where the walls are adorned with the fashion designers interests and the racks full of interesting, Melbourne themed pieces. Each street has something to offer whether it is a dark, graffiti filled lane-way or a fashionable strip a la Gertrude Street. There is basically something for everyone.
And then once a year these big Melbourne brands have ‘factory sales’ where items that normally retail for $250 are strewn across tressle tables with red, black and green tags that depict the prices. After enquiring where a friend purchased a pair of jeans I heard about the ‘Nobody’, (premium denim made in Melbourne) jeans sale, held a once a year in a back street of Fitzroy. Here on a sunny Saturday morning I spent a couple of hours sifting through the piles of jeans and then trying them on with a dozen other women in one of those makeshift change rooms. The experience is not one you can prepare yourself for but the reward outweighs the tedious task of undressing in front of strangers and waiting your turn for the one long skinny mirror that rests against the far wall. And here is where I found half a dozen pairs of jeans and a fabulous black sheer shirt that I now love wearing with my tan colored necklace and a pair of strappy flat sandals.
When I went over to see Nina and Yanna on that Sunday morning I was wearing this outfit as well as the ‘Lady Danger’ lipstick that Nina’s sister Yanna had given me a few days earlier. This color isn’t easy to find in Melbourne and since getting my hands on it I struggle to wear anything else. It’s become a signature color and may even knock Mac’s ‘Ruby Woo’ off the top of my ‘favorites’ list. So, here I am in Seddon wearing my ‘Nobody’ skinny jeans and black shirt, Nine West sandals, tan beaded necklace (from a little shop in Daylesford) and brown leather satchel from Belki on Rathdowne Street Carlton. All are favorites that I’m sure will be see many a Melbourne day out. ” written by Nat Rose.
Nat was wearing:
Olga de Polga cropped jacket (Chapel St, Prahan)
‘Edme & Esyllte’ Silk shirt (with an accent)
Nine West sandals (Nine West, Carlton)
Leather satchel from Belki (Rathdowne St Carlton)
Lipstick – ‘touch’ by Mac (Mac Store)
Have a lovely Day!!!
