Maison Martin Margiela X H&M X CHANEL

Got the amazing stitched up blue skirt at the preview- exclusive H&M Athens fashion party– of the collection from the highly anticipated Maison Martin Margiela collaboration with H&M. This skirt, like the red dress I showed you in the previous post, are re-editions from the Spring-Summer 2003 collection.

Thanks to H&M a piece of the famous French go to label for fashion obsessives all over the world, is now in my closet. But are these items the same as the ones filling the closets of stylist, celebrities and musicians? Carine Roitfeld and Nicolas Ghesquiere are huge devotees but do they consider these items fashion too?  Well, there is a big debate and I read an article claiming that these collaborations are not democratization of fashionEugene Rabkin, editor-in-chief of StyleZeitgeist magazine, makes the case against fast fashion collaborations. You can read it here.

I, on the other hand, am in love with their thought-provoking designs and I am super happy I bought my blue skirt for 79.00 euro. I wore this outfit to a cool party a few day ago. Using items I have from past seasons in my wardrobe, I believe I created an up to date party look. I wore a leather Salvatore Ferragamo topan oversized Maison Martin Margiela X H&M necklace and a cool glove purse. I contrasted the amazing classic Chanel coat my mother gave me with a pair of fashion forward silver studded booties by Giuseppe Zanotti. A powerful mix- Chanel- MMM X HM-Ferragamo-Zanotti! A! the black scarf with white butterflies is from Zara.

About MMM

“Often referred to as iconoclast, avant-garde and experimental, the Maison expresses its creativity through recycling, transformation and reinterpretation – like an emotion, a unique and timeless proposal defying all laws and rules.”
