Packing for London always involves something created by my favorite fashion designer of all times, Azzedine Alaia. The Tunisian-born couturier and shoe designer, was extremely successful in the 1980s. His body-con designs defined the aesthetic of Paris at the time. I started buying Alaia clothes when I was studying in UK, ages ago. My fashionable buys proved to be an investment, after all.
I just saw at the Joseph store in South Kensington an Alaia body costs today 900 pounds and back then it was 150 or was it 195?! It was a lot of money even then but not what it is today.
Remember, I told you that the famous French designer was in Athens for an event at Megaron Mousikis? Azzedine Alaia: “Crisis and Creativity” a discussion with Demosthenes Davvetas. The lecture was followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
Today, I realized what I should have asked him. Why have prices of designer items skyrocketed??
Anyway, I bought this black body and skirt from Browns back in the 1980s. You must agree… the outfit has passed the test of time … to say the least….
I never bought a waist belt and it seems like I never will… at these prices…the one I am wearing is a leather waist belt from last year’s H&M Conscious collection.
As for the shoes I am voting for Christian Louboutin Pigalle shoes over Manolo Blahnik BB pointy toe pumps. They look new longer …I guess, you know what I mean…
The leather red black ivory moto jacket is from Acne Studios.
Catching up with friends in this grant city is my idea of fun.
I am staying with Lara in Holland Park at her stylish home. I will show you a few images in this outfit post but I will do a separate article like I did for her summer house in Tzia… you can seen here
Wearing:
Turtleneck body Azzedine Alaia on sale at Browns Fashion

Waist Belt H&M conscious (similar black waist belt from Asos ) and another very similar one here
Leather moto Jacket Acne Studios
Calzedonia Italy microfiber 30 den black tights

I wore this outfit for a night out in London at Bar Boulud, in Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Even though Daniel Boulud is Chef-Owner of several award-winning restaurants all over the world this is the first time I tried it. I went for dinner with Vicky Archer, the inspiring Australian writer and blogger of French Essence and tech wizard Chloe Watts who started her own company and blog chloedigital.com .
Do you have something you wear over and over again, season after season??
Have a lovely Day!!!
looking gook!
Thank you Tania !! <3 <3
The skirt is so timeless! It’s amazing how much the prices have increased. I hate to think how much things will cost twenty years from now.
It’s designer products that have increased so much…
