I was very excited, Yanna my sister, had invitations to the preview of the contemporary jewelry designers exhibition “Dazzle at the Oxo Tower”, in London. Even though I had no idea what to expect I was thrilled we could see what avant garde designers are up to.
Sallyanne Lowe, the young talented jewelry designer, a graduate of Central St. Martins BA 3D Design (Jewelry) and the Goldsmithing MA at Londons Royal College of Art, is our friend’s Karen sister. She is currently showing part of her new collection at the Dazzle exhibition along with more than 20 other amazing designers. It was lovely to meet her. She is warm, friendly and loves what she does. Sallyanne’s rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings are made by hand at her south London studio. Her design ethos is to make jewelry which is ultimately wearable and timeless.
“She explores time honored craft processes – wax carving and stone mounting – as well as contemporary – precious metal clay and machine engraving – in a search for unique texture and form. Her time as an architectural model maker informs her work – months spent recreating the fine floral architectural detail of listed buildings, on a minute scale, which were then juxtaposed against a backdrop of postmodern minimalist architecture, feed her aesthetic.” according to dazzle- exhibitions.
Sallyanne Lowe started her business in 1996. “Working in silver, gold and platinum, the inherent beauty of diamonds and colored gem stones provide a wealth of inspiration, as does nature, architecture, and a desire to re-invent ancient, cross cultural themes within jewelry” she explains.
Her fabulous handmade designs have a classic finesse with a twist and a minimal aesthetic. Loved so many of them… For all ordering enquiries and for private commissions you can call Sallyanne on 07931 758076 or email info@sallyannelowe.com
