Beauty DIY- RETRO RECIPE- Olive Oil Night Cream

Retro chic woman applying creamOlive oil has long been known to be a key to a healthy diet. But did you know that olive oil was used as a beauty cream in ancient cultures? Olive oil is good on the skin because it contains omega fatty acids and is high vitamin E and K. It is super-moisturizing and anti-aging. So, its cheap and effective!!! While I was in Paros island, Despoina, did my nails and she gave me this magic recipe that she got from her grandmother.

Olive Oil Night Cream
Night creams are the most expensive, but you know what? You don’t have to have a PhD to make this night cream at home. You can find the ingredients for this olive oil cream for normal and dry skin in your refrigerator.
You can make your own night cream for a fraction of the price. This homemade olive oil night cream is meant for normal and dry skin but for oily skin you can add 1/4 cup vinegar to help restore your skin’s pH balance.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp bee or white wax

olive branch

Step 1 : First, we need to melt the oils together. The easy way is to setup a double boiler. Fill a small saucepan quarter full of water. Turn the heat to medium and set a small bowl on top of your pan. Pour in olive oil and add in wax. As the wax melts, stir the mixture. It usually takes a little while for the wax to melt, so please be patient.

Step 2 : Remove the bowl with the mixture from the heat and leave it to cool down to room temperature. Then stir in the water. For oily skin stir in 1/4 cup vinegar. Vinegar is helpful for removing oil from the skin and it restores the skin’s natural pH balance.

Step 3 :  You can pour in your  homemade night cream mixture into a small cream container. You can store it in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks.

Personally, I also apply olive oil directly on my skin and I use it on my face, my body and as a hair musk.

 Have a lovely Day!!!

  1. I’ll have to show this to my sister. She’s obsessed with trying at home skin creams and masks right now. I have combination skin so I’m not sure it’s right for me though. Thanks!!

  2. What is white wax? Can I use bees wax from raw honey? I love natural beauty recipes but I have dry and sensitive skin and don’t want to clog my pores(?)

    1. I just called Despoina, the girl that gave me her grandmother’s recipe so I will let you know asap!!!
