One of my fashion icons, super model and contributing fashion editor to Vogue UK Kate Moss shared her guide to dressing well with The Independent. I am inspired by her style and her instructions are definitely useful.
How to dress well by Kate Moss
1. Dress how you feel
“Most of the time, I dress depending on my mood. I just throw on whatever I feel like wearing at the time, which tends to come from the palette of black, grey or red. If I’m having an off-day, I’ll wear full black.”
2. Wear Ray Bans
“I always have a pair of Ray-Bans in my bag and lots of pairs at home because they seem to go missing. They’re a real staple.”
3. Stick to what you know
“If you find a look that works for you, stick to it. I’m at my most comfortable in jeans and a blazer, and I’m not afraid of wearing different cuts of denim. I love skinny jeans, but I’m feeling a flare at the moment – I’m really liking a wide leg.”
4. Preparation is key for big events
“If you’re going to an important dinner, you should plan what you’re going to wear, as you don’t want to look silly. If I’m going to an event, I make sure I plan ahead, so that I don’t have a fashion crisis.”
5. Get inspired by the past
“I really love the late sixties and seventies, around the time of The Rolling Stones. I don’t channel it in everything I wear, but it does seem to feed through most outfits.”
6. Comfort is irrelevant… sometimes
“I prefer to be comfortable, and sometimes fancy wearing flat shoes, but there are definitely occasions where you’ve just got to go with heels. There are some comfortable heels that you can run around in, but, sometimes, it’s more important to be well-presented than to be comfortable.”
7. Fine jewelry anytime
“I don’t think you can ever have too much.”
8. Wear the same thing all the time… it’s OK
“It’s often only other people who notice you have a signature style. I don’t think I’ve got one, though other people tell me I do. But it doesn’t matter – even if you do tend to wear the same things all the time, it’s how you wear them and your attitude that counts.”

Luv her too. There is something just normal about her as a person, even though she is a superwoman. Totally agree with all her suggestions. Not surprised because the 60’s and 70’s are my favorite reference period too. But I never have to present myself, so I can attend big events in comfortable heels. I understand, though, sometimes the shoe pulls it all together. Great post.
