After taking the time to learn the art of mixing prints when putting together outfits, I can tell you, it almost, comes natural to me now. So, before I show you my mixed prints outfit post, I thought maybe you want to know how I learned master the scariest trend?

First of all, the reason I wanted to learn it, was mainly because the combinations and permutations of looks you can create with what you already have in your closet increase exponentially. So here are my four rules and a video by Leandra Medine that I hope you will find useful, too.

4 Important Rules for Mixing Prints

1. Use items with similar colors.

2. When you are clashing prints make sure they clash. For example Giovanna Battaglia clashed a graphic plaid with a black-and-white leopard print. Which is more or less what I did  here.

3. Mix stripes and florals- Look for a unifying color and remember stripes act as a neutral.

4. Mix polka dot and florals- Put a floral pant with a black-and-white polka-dotted shirt, it works.
